UNT Dallas Student Center Design Film

MESA and the design team was challenged to utilize principles and methods of Pattern Language (Christopher Alexander, 1977) to strengthen the UNTD campus core and develop its connection with a new Student Learning and Success Center. As this process evolved, it became difficult to clearly illustrate both design intent and pattern language while utilizing conventional 2D drawings. To overcome this obstacle, a 3D model and video was developed to better examine relationships between various pattern language elements, convey a clear representation of the experiential qualities of the site, and fully express details of spatial proportion, materiality, and overall site vernacular.
