What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience, a strong sense of design, and a clear understanding of planning, zoning, and entitlements. You’ll work closely with our leadership team and clients to guide projects from vision through approvals—ensuring that designs are not only inspiring but also implementable. In this role, you’ll also have the unique opportunity to carry plans forward into the landscape architectural design process and construction, ensuring continuity from concept to reality.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative and practical land plans for master planned communities and large-scale developments
  • Prepare residential neighborhood lotting plans and non-residential site plans
  • Review, interpret, and apply zoning and subdivision ordinances, city codes, and development standards, including city comprehensive plans, planned development districts, and zoning documents
  • Obtain and analyze GIS data, compiling base maps and resources from FEMA, USGS, and other agencies
  • Work directly with the project Principal while collaborating on designs and coordinating with the client and other project consultants.
  • Prepare entitlement packages and supporting documents for municipal approvals
  • Attend public hearings related to the entitlement process
  • Lead teams to complete projects while meeting deadlines and budget requirements

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited university
  • 2+ years of professional experience, preferably in land planning or a related field.
  • Strong design skills with the ability to translate concepts into plans
  • Familiarity with land use entitlement processes and approval procedures
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS software, and Microsoft Office Suite. M-Color is a plus.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

What We’re Looking For

Working alongside Principal, Mary Ellen Cowan, you will collaborate with clients, design teams and contractors to bring each client’s vision to fruition. CAD Drafting and Production Graphics Specialist

Applicants are expected to manage deadlines with efficient production of deliverables. A brief practicum assessing technical skill and proficiency with software applications will be part of the interview process. The practicum will include but not limited to capability with:

    • Key board shortcuts
    • Using/creating custom LISP commands
    • Proficiency with utilizing line type, weight, and hierarchy.
    • Applying and setting up annotative scales and page layouts
    • Attaching and referencing other files, such as .dwg, .xlsx, .skp, .pdf, .jpg, etc.

 

The successful candidate will:

 

    • Have excellent technical drafting skills, especially regarding document management, composition,
      and in-depth knowledge of AutoCAD.
    • Be knowledgeable of and have experience with construction methodologies,
      technical (construction) documents.
    • Be capable of working with design teams and consultants through all design stages from concept

    • Be able to prepare CD sets including hardscape, planting, landscape lighting, water features,
      construction details, and preparation of specification and bidding packages with supervision by senior designers and project managers.
    • Proficient with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
    • Have an accredited certification, Associates degree in Drafting, or bachelor’s degree in Landscape
      Architecture or Architecture from an accredited university.
