MESA worked with Lake|Flato Architects and the client to create an urban retreat in a traditional Dallas neighborhood. Three camp-like dwellings are organized around an open courtyard and nestled among existing cedar elm and pecan trees. Native sedge plants fill the courtyard and bamboo planted along the perimeter provides privacy from the street. A sequence of paths and spaces create a range of communal to private settings. Views from inside offer a serene landscape, making this residence the perfect refuge in the city.
