Windhaven Meadows Park is a quintessential agrarian pasture, with gently sloping meadows framed by a dense woodland and limestone escarpments. Acquired by the City of Plano in 2011, the 125-acre site was the last remaining parcel of what was once a much larger land holding now converted into suburban housing. Following a collaborative planning and design process with area residents and City staff, MESA composed a master planned design that could deliver both passive and active recreational amenities while preserving the site’s natural systems and honoring its agrarian heritage.
The variety of amenities Windhaven Meadows Park has to offer is not what makes the park special. It is the manifestation of these amenities through an understanding of the symbiotic relationship which balances the site’s legacy and the community’s needs. The palpable allure visitors experience at the park is a result of exceptional focus on nature preservation, a celebration of heritage, and the support for discovery. Windhaven Meadows Park has quickly established itself as a destination park in north Texas and will happily provide the community with a natural respite for many years to come.
