Located in Las Colinas, the site of the Tuscan Medical Building offers many conditions that ultimately defined the design. The sloping topography necessitated the medical office building to serve as a retaining device through the middle of the site. The building plate became the symbolic mid-level boundary between two contrasting design approaches. The lower plateau features sophisticated landscape design expressed in strong geometric landforms and plant materials. The upper zone preserves and enhances a native wooded savannah. The two contrasting approaches creates a tension on the site that complements the elegant simplicity of the architecture.
