Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks

The Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks is one of the oldest properties in the YMCA system. This historic property in Lake George Valley is a designated Cultural Landscape on the National Register and operates as a conference center and vacation spot rather than a traditional YMCA campground. The original well-orchestrated site design and program changed radically over the last fifty years: road additions, maintenance issues, and changes in visitor demographics have resulted in a less cohesive and profitable venue. MESA lead the design team in creating a new master plan integrating changes in programming, site design, and economic structure. The goals for the YMCA retreat are one, respect the landscape and structures pertinent to the national register standing; two, accommodate market demand for both high and low income clients with public outreach for the latter; and three, update the accommodations and program venues.
