Mineral Well Public Plaza

The Mineral Well Public Plaza is a civic gathering place that establishes a strong identity and sense of place, while expressing the history and story of the Mineral Well.  Standing 40 feet tall, the iconic stone tower is a landmark among a constellation of civic and commercial buildings.

As visitors move upon the space, fissured and fractured stone give visual ques leading towards the illusion of a shallow, spring-fed basin that sets at the foot of the landmark tower.  Large stone slabs surround the plaza allowing visitors a place to seek respite while hearing the faint sound of water.  The reflecting pool with its clear blue water is symbolic of the Mineral Well that was once a significant part of Arlington’s history.

The practical element of time is conveyed through a functioning clock, while the sculptural lion head provides an artful component, paying homage to the historic fountain, as well as bolstering the civic brand.  In all, the reimagined Mineral Well Public Plaza is a contemporary interpretation of a former historic landmark in the City of Arlington.
