Situated on 28 acres between a wooded creek and major street thoroughfares, MESA and the design team developed a quiet, serene, park-like, urban living retirement community complete with facilities for elderly healthcare. The buildings are oriented towards the wooded creek while the street edge is screened with an earthen berm and dense planting of trees and shrubs. Building courtyards consist of fountains, seating areas, shade structures and healing gardens. All of the buildings are connected by sidewalks that form a continuous loop for evening strolls, walking the dog, or a morning run. The planting scheme for the site begins with lush plantings around the buildings, and progresses to native prairie planting at the site boundary.
