Ciquio Vasquez Park

Ciquio Vasquez Park (formerly Echo Lake Park) is a 41.3-acre community park in south Fort Worth featuring a 17-acre lake and the historic home of Southside Little League. Following the park’s transfer from Tarrant County to the City of Fort Worth, MESA was engaged to develop a comprehensive master plan that reimagines the park as a vibrant community destination while preserving its longstanding connection to neighborhood recreation and youth athletics. Guided by extensive site analysis and community engagement, the vision balances active and passive recreation through enhanced lakefront access, trails, gathering spaces, athletic facilities, and nature-based amenities. Currently under construction, Phase 1 improvements include new athletic fields and supporting amenities, a playground, event pavilion, picnic pavilions, and an expanded trail network. The design also celebrates the park’s rich community legacy through commemorative elements honoring Ciquio Vasquez and the future Patrick Zamarripa Ballfield Complex, recognizing generations of residents whose lives have been shaped by the park.

Community Legacy
Ciquio Vasquez Park honors the legacy of longtime Worth Heights resident and community advocate Ciquio Vasquez, who founded Southside Little League in 1976 and dedicated decades to mentoring youth and improving the park. The park’s baseball complex is named in memory of Patrick Zamarripa, a Fort Worth native, military veteran, and Dallas police officer who played at the park as a child through Southside Little League. Together, their stories reflect the park’s enduring role as a place of recreation, service, and community connection for generations of Fort Worth residents.
