The landscape design of this Ellis County site is inspired by the strong linear architecture of ReyRosa Ranch. Four “arms” reach toward the surrounding ranch land in the form of two raw-concrete water troughs; a pedestrian bridge leads to the treetops near a creek bed, allowing bird watching; and a boardwalk leads to a grass parking area built with a soil-stabilization system and planted with native Buffalo grass. These extensions connect the house and the landscape in a meaningful way. The restoration and addition of native grasses and select trees visually extend the prairie without disturbing the surrounding terrain.
