The Apex Centre (McKinney Aquatic and Fitness Center) is situated on 21 acres within the greater Gabe Nesbitt Park, adjacent to the recently opened PSA indoor athletic center. The two-story facility will feature indoor leisure and competition pools, an outdoor leisure pool with multi-story water slide and shaded seating, a gym and fitness areas, and an indoor track and multi-purpose rooms, among other amenities.
MESA and the Architect developed a master plan for the project which led to the creation of a new spine road through the site to alleviate the existing traffic problems the park is experiencing. As part of the plan, MESA augmented several parking areas within the park to better serve the existing recreational areas such as the baseball and softball complexes.
