Joseph Steffes Promoted to Principal

With nearly twenty-five years of industry experience, including twelve years at MESA, Mr. Steffes has proven himself an invaluable leader in the advancement of the firm. His drive for operational efficiency has been integral in creating firm-wide standards, including IT processes and onboarding procedures to streamline internal workflows. With a forward-thinking approach, Joe remains at the forefront of adopting cutting-edge technologies and innovative software, ensuring MESA stays ahead of the curve in the landscape architecture industry.

 

Joe’s professional experience spans a variety of market sectors including higher-education, hospitality, parks, and healthcare. Notable projects under Joe’s leadership include the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center – the first independent, residential hospice care center in Dallas, Texas; the University of North Texas at Dallas Student Learning and Success Center in Dallas, Texas; and Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve Master Plan and Site Improvements in Plano, Texas. His contributions to these projects and others have earned the firm numerous design awards from industry organizations.

 

Joe’s dedication to the practice of landscape architecture is evident in his passion for mentorship. He continually fosters the growth and development of staff, spearheading educational sessions to share knowledge, expertise, and best practices within the team, ensuring we are always learning and evolving.

 

Joe earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University in 2001, followed by his Graduate Certificate of Business Administration in 2011. He is a licensed Landscape Architect in Texas and Kansas, a LEED Accredited Professional with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS), and Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Board (CLARB).

 

A native of Kansas, Joe enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and three daughters. Whether at the archery range or boating on one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s many lakes, he values the time spent with his family.
