03 Sep Waterbrook Awarded Best Community Entry Feature
|Waterbrook has been awarded Best Community Entry Feature by the Dallas Builders Association 2020 McSAM Awards!
The 105 acre community is located in Argyle, Texas. The primary entry of the project was designed to be an open and inviting space that welcome visitors in and creates a sense of community. An existing creek lies adjacent to the entry feature which was an amenity that the designers wanted to incorporate into the design. To enhance the existing creek character, the focal point of the community’s primary entry is a large lake with a historic waterwheel and wheelhouse that sits along the water’s edge. The fully functioning waterwheel was built out of reclaimed wood from old barns which adds to the authentic feel of the architecture. The wheelhouse also functions as a pavilion, providing resident’s a place to pause on daily walks and host special events.
